Viva Magenta - Pantone Colour of the Year 2023
Pantone Color Institute has announced the Viva Magenta – Pantone colour of the year 2023 as they call it an unconventional shade for an unconventional time, a new vision!
In a time when a number of challenges are influencing culture, the Viva Magenta Pantone colour of the year for 2023 alludes to the vigour and strength needed to pave the way for a more positive future. Viva Magenta is a vibrant and complex shade of blood red that incorporates both warm and cold tones and is a study in contrasts. Its natural origins are steeped in the environment, and its vibrant colour may be seen in both the physical and digital realms, showcasing the diversity of our contemporary world. PANTONE colour 18-1750, tells a new story.
A new symbol of power is a red-related colour that has its roots in nature and exudes vitality and vigour.
Pantone explores the interaction between artificial intelligence and human creativity in order to first make “The Magentaverse” approachable to the general audience. This research builds on the experimental spirit of Viva Magenta.
An energetic colour that inspires boldness and daring while inspiring hope and joy. Strong and inspiring, it promotes experimentation and unrestrained self-expression. It is an assertive colour that pushes boundaries and makes a strong statement. Everyone is welcomed to Viva Magenta with the same spirit of rebellion. It is bold, humorous, and inclusive to all. A soft blood red with a mix of warm and cool tones is Viva Magenta, 2023, PANTONE 18-1750. The composite colour Viva Magenta evokes our multidimensional existence while seamlessly transcending the physical and digital realms. It is a carmine red that takes a delicate approach rather than sheer dominance. It is assertive but not aggressive.
The Pantone Institute considered the recent storm of challenges people have faced, like the COVID-19 pandemic, and how they have impacted people’s perspectives, values, and attitudes when choosing a colour for 2023.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said the hue was inspired by the natural red dye derived from small insects called cochineals. “We seek inspiration from nature and the actual world as virtual worlds increasingly permeate our daily lives”. Eiseman also added, “We’re hoping that the symbolism in this colour will create a dynamic world that encourages experimentation…One that leverages the virtual within the physical realm and emboldens our spirit to explore ground-breaking possibilities.”
Although there are strong ties between the colour and both the ancient and modern, the institute wants to be clear that it is also a colour that is undoubtedly appropriate for the current time, a hue that inspires everyone to live life courageously in the present.
While Viva Magenta is a fairly specific colour, it’s important to keep in mind that in terms of fashion and trends, we expect the tone of magenta to range between ideal matches and those with either more pink or more purple overtones. Discover Viva Magenta with Daphne!
